Problem and Discovery
During the discovery phase, I collaborated with Sosido Networks to understand the core challenges of their existing platform. Members were struggling with usability issues such as frustrating login process, limited Q&A functionality and a poor mobile experience. The outdated infrastructure and design not only affected performance but also risked losing sponsor support. Sponsors, in turn, expressed the need for a modern, bilingual interface with new features to boost member engagement. These insights helped us define clear goals for a complete revamp of Sosido’s marketing website, member dashboard and weekly email digest — focusing on performance, usability and long-term scalability.
We discussed two key competitors, which informed a competitor analysis of similar knowledge-sharing platforms. The analysis identified strengths such as user-friendly navigation, advanced forum tools and mobile responsiveness, as well as weaknesses such as complex workflows and outdated designs. These insights highlighted opportunities to address gaps in Sosido’s platform, guiding improvements to enhance the user experience, increase engagement and solidify its market position.
Website Planning
Next, I shifted my focus to reorganizing the structure of both the marketing site and the user portal. To ensure the design addressed business goals, pain points and user needs effectively, I started by creating low-fidelity wireframes. These wireframes served as a blueprint for exploring various layouts, prioritizing the organization and hierarchy of information. This approach allowed me to translate insights into actionable solutions before diving into visual design details.
Designing with Scalability
I created a design system containing elements such as colour palette, typography, iconography and reusable design components including buttons, input fields, cards and navigation menus. The card-based layout improves content organization and accessibility. By amounting to this process, I was able to streamline the designs, saving time and effort on both the design and development side and guaranteeing consistency as Sosido continues to evolve in the future.
Revamped Marketing Site
I redesigned the landing page by replacing text-heavy sections with illustrations and icons. These changes effectively highlight the core features, making the content more digestible and appealing to users. Additionally, the updates focus on improving the page’s overall visual hierarchy to better guide users’ attention, foster engagement and create a welcoming first impression.
Adapting Content to User Needs
After signing in or joining Sosido, members can easily access articles, news, and community discussions through the navigation panel on the left. New articles are published daily, providing a steady stream of fresh content. Members can personalize their experience by clicking the “Customize Sources” button, where they can choose which associations, journals, and topics to follow. Coloured squares beside each community help with visual identification, and mobile-friendly toggle switches make it easy to select preferred sources. These selections, along with followed members, are reflected in the weekly Email Digest sent directly to their inbox.
Facilitating In-Depth Discussions with Nested Threads
Members are able to participate in discussions more easily through the updated forum, accessible through the navigation panel on the left side of the user portal or the “Ask a Question” CTA button in the bottom-right corner. The Q&A page has been significantly improved with the addition of nested threads, enabling members to reply directly to specific responses for clearer and more organized discussions. New features also include the ability to attach images and various file formats, which were not available on the previous platform, enhancing collaboration.
Enhancing Clarity for the Email Digest
Group members receive a weekly email digest which contains a summary of activity in their community and anything that’s important will come straight to their inbox. I redesigned the digest for improved readability, showcasing member publications, news and Q&A titles up front, along with their Community logo. Additionally, I added unique colours to the community titles to enhance readability.
The Sosido redesign tackled core challenges by rethinking the platform from the ground up to better support collaboration among healthcare professionals. We focused on balancing diverse user needs, simplifying dense, text-heavy content, and maintaining easy access to critical clinical information. Through iterative design and close collaboration with stakeholders and users, we created a streamlined, user-friendly experience that enhances the delivery of clinical insights. User testing throughout the process ensured a solution that is both functional and intuitive.
