The Challenge
The project kicked off with an in-depth consultation with Sterling Sound to learn more about the business goals, problems and project scope. During this meeting, we walked through the existing booking process, identifying usability issues and pain points to better understand the challenges and areas for improvement. During the session, I collected insights that helped me to understand their business goals, user pain points and potential solutions.
Optimizing the Sitemap for Clarity and Usability
After identifying the usability issues, I analyzed the existing flow to pinpoint areas that were unnecessary or redundant. I reorganized the structure, proposing a more streamlined and intuitive sitemap that better aligned with the business goals and user needs. This new structure aimed to simplify navigation, improve accessibility and enhance the overall user experience.
Establishing Layout and Visual Hierarchy
With the proposed sitemap in place, I began creating wireframes to outline the layout and functionality of key pages. These low-fidelity wireframes focused on the core user flows, such as the booking process, engineer selection, and payment steps. The goal was to establish a clear visual hierarchy and ensure that each page had a logical structure, making it easy for users to navigate. By focusing on placement and interactions rather than design details, the wireframes served as a foundation for testing the flow and gathering feedback before moving on to the visual design stage.
Prototype for Usability Testing
I created a working prototype to share with stakeholders, to ensure that all elements flowed smoothly and functioned as intended, allowing for the final product to meet user expectations and design goals. Minor adjustments and tweaks were made.

Seamless Booking with Progress Tracking
The final solution resulted in a series of screens, from selecting an engineer to completing a session payment. The progress bar feature was a new addition, representing the key visual indicator to inform users the steps they have completed and what steps remains in the process, ensuring transparency and trust. Once the booking date is selected and the payment process is completed, users are redirected to the dashboard, where they can view upcoming and past sessions, invoices and clear CTA to book a new session.

Feedback and Improvements
Based on user feedback, a new section was added to improve flexibility — if the selected engineer couldn’t meet the desired deadline, users now have the option to choose from other available engineers with different completion dates and pricing. This update enhances user control, reduces potential delays and ensures a smoother booking experience.
The Sterling Sound booking website redesign streamlined scheduling with a step-by-step progress bar, reducing confusion and guiding users through each step. The updated site offered quick access to sessions, invoices, and rebooking options, improving usability and saving time. The redesign enhanced the overall user experience while strengthening Sterling Sound’s professional digital presence.
